TIME AND COST CALCULATION OF CUTTING WITH E.CUT

Evaluating the cost-effectiveness of performing machining with E.cut instead of conventional machining, (conventional erosion with brass wire, laser, plasma, milling, etc. ) often holds great surprises. In fact, although the working time of wire cutting is much higher than other machining, the difference is the very low hourly operating cost.
A cost of 0.5 to 2 euros/hour makes 20 hours of work cost a maximum of 40 euros with Ecut.
With the following table it is possible to calculate time and cost .

Descrizione Pezzo

How to use the table and meaning results
Having entered the machining description, chosen the CNC model, entered perimeter P (mm), thickness H (mm) the area A (mm2/min) will be calculated. Cutting times will be calculated by dividing the area to be cut, A (mm2) by the removal rate V (in mm2/min). Time will be shown in minutes, and in hours and centimeters.
The next three columns will show :
A) the cost based on pure hourly operating cost, ( wire, coolant, current, filters, annual spare parts, annual maintenance)
B) The cost based on hourly operating cost plus depreciation
C) The cost of machining based on the hourly cost required by a subcontractor.

The removal rate basically depends on two factors, the material to be cut, and the generator with which the machine is equipped. The other factor to consider is the roughness you want to achieve. The higher the removal rate, the higher the roughness.

Assuming a square of P=10 mm x H= 10mm, we will have A= 100 mm2, and assuming a removal rate V = 100mm2/minute, we will have a cutting time of 1 minute.
